Profits of a Knoxville-brewed beer will go to help wildlife in Australia that’s been hurt by the bush fires. Albright Grove’s owner Nick Barron said he jumped on the opportunity, which is led by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

“A billion animals have died in the fires,” Nick said. “It’s impossible to fathom.”

Albright Grove will brew a beer and donate all profits to Australian Bushfire relief, specifically to WIRES (NWA Wildlife Information Rescue Education Service, Inc). The fundraising project originally was organized by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company to provide relief for victims of the Californian Camp Fire in 2018. Now, efforts are raising funds for victims of the Australian Bushfires that have torn across the Australian continent.

Nick said that he’s also doing it because he wants to help fight global climate change.

“I’m an advocate for anything we can for climate change, and this is (the fires) something attributable to climate change,” he said.

The beer, called Resilience, should be available in about six weeks, he said. Follow the brewery on social media for more information on its release.

In other news, there are events coming up around town that are worth mentioning, particularly a hoppy beer party at the Hi-Wire taproom. The Hazy Hoppy Juicy Fest will feature more than 20 regional breweries who will bring their version of hazy IPAs to the taproom in South Knoxville on Feb. 22.

Now I typically don’t get all that jazzed about beer festivals anymore, but this one is $12 and sure to involve some heavy hitters. And that location, the Hi-Wire taproom, is going to be a great one for a beer festival.
