So a lot of us white folks – the majority – have been thinking about ways to help. How can we assist people of color and LGBTQ communities? Y’know, minorities?

I’ve asked myself how we can we support those populations – minorities of all kinds – to get a toehold in the world. Here at B+F/W, we realized that we have a platform that we can open up to raise someone’s voice.

A few weeks back we talked to Knoxville singer and entertainer Brandon Gibson about beer and so much more. And we recorded the conversation. If you can get past my goofy timbre, and the lo-fi recording, you’ll be able to enjoy an hour of us BSing about lockdowns, C-19, race, current events and so on. Oh, and you’ll get to hear Brandon’s smooth voice. Enjoy.
And while you’re out and about this weekend and in the future, be sure to check out and support these Knoxville-area businesses owned by people of color.

We have the power to assist minorities of all kinds. Many of us white folks really have no clue what it means to be a minority. Basically, we don’t know much of anything outside of our own experience. And our culture generally supports what the majority wants. What I’m proposing isn’t hard to do. Just shut up and listen. You may come away feeling the same as you did before. But at least you listened to someone else. And I think the chat Brandon and I had is at least halfway entertaining.

We’re two guys who like good beer and good food. The expertise we share – if you can call it that – comes from a combined 50 years of sipping, sampling and supping. We just want to entertain, tell some stories and share our experiences with like-minded folks who know that life is best enjoyed with tasty beer, delicious food and great friends.
